Dosa at San Francisco

It has been a while since I posted anything. Not that I went in hibernation, just the same old excuse. 'No time'. Also haven't been cooking much of blog worthy food lately. When the sun comes out in Seattle you really want to get out and soak in the Vitamin D.

I do plan to whip up some deliciousness soon. Till then here is one of the best food memories from recent times.

The restaurant Dosa at San Francisco, California was one of the better Indian fusion restaurants we have been to in a while. Our fun road trip to the Bay Area wouldn't have been complete without this visit. Had heard about it from a number of people in Seattle. East meets west with the Habanero-Mango dosa to Collard Greens and Peppers dosa. For the less adventurous you have some of the Udupi classics as well. Kintan guided us through the amazing menu and ordered fancier versions of batata vadas as starters. I wasn't a big fan of the cocktails there but would definitely order the South Indian Monsoon mocktail next time.

While most of us settled for dosas, I went for the Fish Moilee. Although I enjoyed the Artichoke and Spring Vegetables Uttapam course, the Fish Moilee was the winner. It was really really good! Although Moilee or Meen Moilee is traditionally part of Keralan cuisine, the coconut sauce reminded me of the Mangalorean gassis served at Apoorva and Mahesh Lunch home in Mumbai.

Fish Moilee at Dosa. Served with curry leaf rice and snow peas poriyal. The coconut sauce was to die for.
The restaurant had an interesting dessert menu as well. The combination of Gajar ka Halwa on Payasam seems odd right? But it works brilliantly! And then there was Passion Fruit Custard topped with coconut tapioca.

We are definitely going there again. Apart from Rishita, we have another reason to visit the Bay Area :)
